Verifies facts and citations only. Leave voice, rhythm, headline, and dek untouched — those belong to [post-voice-edit](../post-voice-edit/SKILL.md) and [post-headline-dek](../post-headline-dek/SKILL.md).

## Steps

1. Read the target draft in full.
2. Extract every checkable claim: numbers, dates, dollar figures, quotes, named people/organizations, "X said Y" attributions — and every existing `[^n]` citation.
3. For each claim, verify against a primary or clearly reputable source via web search. For claims that already carry a citation, don't just confirm the source exists — confirm it actually supports the specific number or statement attached to it, the way this corpus's existing footnotes do (direct links to primary documents, not just "a report was published somewhere").
4. Fix wrong citations, add missing ones for uncited checkable claims, and correct any claim the sources contradict. For anything that can't be verified either way, don't invent a source to cover the gap — leave it flagged inline (e.g. `[UNVERIFIED: ...]`) for the user to cut, soften, or chase down themselves.
5. Report back a short tally: claims verified, citations fixed or added, claims still flagged unresolved. Don't bury this in prose — a list is fine.
